A Parallel World
And what if I told you
that in a parallel world
not far from here
roosters laden with sins
swing people above their crowned heads
and say to one another
and each to the other's God
this is my exchange
this is my substitute
this is my atonement
this man shall go to the fiery furnace
and I shall enter and go to a good, long life and to peace
And if I go on and tell
of a place where
a sun rises naked and pale
shivering with cold
clapping her palms
rubbing them one against the other
and thawing in the light of the rays
that shine from the people of the street
full of radiance
and giving off brightness
and their glow moves from one end of the earth
to the other
A day will come and I will take you
to a moment
in which one God
crowns man as king over Him
the man who creates Him
every day
and sanctifies Him on Sabbath eve
at twilight
and God answers and says
my man, my man
may it never end
